September
1st saw the tragic loss of Chris Caver who was gunned down after a failed
robbery attempt. Chris who after
proudly serving for 9 years in the military, seeing action both in Iraq and
Afghanistan had settled in Peru to a
perfect life. Finding the love of his
life, he became a father to her 2
children who he loved dearly and was attending college to accomplish his dream
of becoming an attorney.
His family
are now trying to bring Chris home so that he can be put to rest in his home
town near his family, friends and people he loved. Donations

Over the past 35 years the South American Explorers has come to be many things to its many loyal members and friends: a respite for alienated expatriates and bewildered backpackers, an invaluable meeting ground and resource for explorers, archaeologists, historians, guidebook writers and researchers of all stripes. And now there is a new stage: the Lima clubhouse is moving to new premises, still in Miraflores, to provide more and better services.
